Automation by default
Advantage+ audience, placements and campaign budgets are now the default path. Manual controls still exist, but they act more as suggestions and guardrails than hard targeting.

Meta’s ad system now does most of the targeting, bidding and placement work with machine learning. Your job has shifted to feeding it the right signals and a steady stream of genuinely different creative. We’ll teach you exactly how.

What’s changed
If you still build dozens of interest-targeted ad sets with one ad each, you’re fighting the system. Here’s what shifted.
Advantage+ audience, placements and campaign budgets are now the default path. Manual controls still exist, but they act more as suggestions and guardrails than hard targeting.
Meta’s ad retrieval and ranking systems match individual ads to people. Meaningfully different concepts — not minor variations — unlock new pockets of audience.
Browser tracking is less reliable after privacy changes. Server-side events through the Conversions API and strong event match quality now directly affect performance.
Meta offers AI tools for text variations, image expansion, backgrounds and more. Useful — but they need oversight so brand voice and accuracy don’t drift.
Consolidated structures give the algorithm more data per campaign, exit learning faster and stabilize costs. Fragmented accounts struggle.
Housing, employment, credit and financial services have special ad category rules, and health and wellness advertisers face limits on certain data and events.
What you’ll learn

Foundations
Most underperforming accounts have a measurement problem disguised as an ads problem. We fix the foundation first.

Creative
You’ll learn to plan creative by concept — persona, angle, format and hook — so each new ad gives Meta something genuinely new to work with, and to produce it at volume with AI.
Campaign structures we teach
We teach a small number of proven structures and show you when to use each. Your coach helps you pick the right one for your account size and goal.
| Structure | Best for | How it’s built |
|---|---|---|
| Advantage+ sales campaign | Ecommerce scaling | One consolidated campaign, broad delivery, existing-customer budget controls, 10–30+ diverse creatives, refreshed weekly |
| Testing + scaling split | Most accounts with steady spend | A dedicated testing campaign for new concepts in batches; winners graduate to the main campaign so tests don’t destabilize it |
| Consolidated lead gen | Local, B2B and coaching | One or two ad sets with broad or Advantage+ audience, qualifying instant forms or landing pages, CRM-fed conversion signals |
| Cost cap / bid cap | Accounts with stable data and clear CPA targets | Bidding controls to protect efficiency when scaling, used once you know your numbers |
| Light retargeting | Higher-consideration offers | Small budget, frequency-aware, proof- and objection-focused creative to engaged viewers and site visitors |
| Partnership ads | Brands working with creators | Running ads through a creator’s handle with permission, combining their credibility with your targeting |
Creative principles
Lead with movement, a pattern interrupt, a bold claim or a visible problem. Test multiple hooks on the same body before rewriting the whole ad.
Ads that look like content — creator-style, selfie video, real environments — often outperform studio productions, especially in Reels and Stories.
A new persona, problem or format is a new concept. A new button color is not. Plan tests around real differences.
One promise, one proof, one call to action. Use captions — many people watch without sound.
Reviews, numbers you can substantiate, demos and testimonials (real and permissioned) reduce doubt at every stage.
Avoid implying personal attributes, exaggerated claims and misleading before-and-afters. Disclose AI and paid partnerships where required.
Metrics to watch
| Metric | What it diagnoses | If it’s weak |
|---|---|---|
| Hook rate (3-second views ÷ impressions) | Whether the opening earns attention | Test new first frames and opening lines |
| Hold rate (ThruPlays or 15s views ÷ 3s views) | Whether the body keeps people watching | Tighten pacing, cut intros, add visual change |
| CTR (link) | Whether the ad creates intent to act | Clarify the offer and call to action |
| CPM | Auction cost and audience competition | Usually a context metric — judge alongside CPA |
| Landing page view rate | Click quality and page speed | Fix load time, check for accidental clicks |
| CPA / ROAS (vs. your target) | Bottom-line efficiency | Diagnose up the funnel before cutting |
| Frequency & creative age | Fatigue risk | Refresh concepts; broaden delivery |

FAQ
Not dead, but less important. For many accounts, broad or Advantage+ audience with strong creative performs as well or better. We teach when targeting inputs still help — for example, new accounts with little data or very niche B2B offers.
It depends on budget. A useful rule: enough concepts that each can get meaningful delivery. We give you budget-based guidelines for testing batches and active ad counts.
Set decision rules before launch — for example, a spend threshold relative to your target CPA. We give you templates so you aren’t making emotional calls after one day.
They can be helpful for quick variations and format adaptation. We show you which to enable, which to review carefully and how to keep outputs on brand and accurate.
Yes. Placements are managed inside Meta Ads Manager; we cover placement-specific creative and when to restrict or expand placements.
We cover prevention, policy review and the appeals process. We can’t guarantee reinstatement — that’s Meta’s decision — but we help you understand what likely triggered the issue.
